This spot sits south of Pokrovsk in Ukraine’s Donetsk region. They targeted a Russian column made up of about 30 motorcycles and quad bikes. The attack stopped an elite Russian push dead in its tracks. It destroyed every vehicle in the group. Survivors scattered into nearby open fields. Ukrainian forces chased them without mercy.
The Russians came from the 76th Guards Air Assault Division. This unit is known for bold, wave-style attacks in Donetsk fights. These tough paratroopers chose light bikes and quads to move fast across open ground. They skipped heavier tanks and trucks to catch Ukrainians off guard. Each vehicle held a small team of soldiers. The plan relied on speed to break through enemy lines. But Ukrainian scouts and drones watched the whole column from a distance. They sent exact location details to artillery teams waiting nearby.
Russian Column Hits a Trap

The Russian group stopped at a broken supply road. Ukrainian mines, drones, or sabotage had damaged it earlier. This spot turned into a perfect trap with no place to hide. Fast FPV drones hit first. They aimed at fuel tanks and riders, causing big explosions in the stuck convoy. Then artillery shells rained down, covering the area in fire and smoke. Videos from the scene showed bikes blowing up one after another. Wreckage spread across the road and fields.
At the same time, Russia tried a second attack nearby with tanks. Ukrainian defenders used drones and artillery to push it back. No Russians broke through. The retreating tanks took heavy fire as they pulled away. This showed how thin Russia’s resources are in the Pokrovsk area. Not a single Russian unit reached Ukrainian front lines that day. Ukrainian reports called it one of the worst column losses in recent Pokrovsk battles.
Chase Takes Down Survivors

Russians who escaped ran on foot into woods and fields. Ukrainian drones with laser-guided bombs hunted them down. Explosions lit up the tree lines as the drones struck. Then Ukrainian assault teams moved in to clear out any hiding spots. Videos captured the pursuits deep in the forests. No stragglers got away to join other forces.
The 76th Division had already lost many soldiers in earlier fights. This ambush added heavy casualties. Russia faces tough times replacing them due to sanctions and a lack of new troops. On December 14, the 7th Air Assault Corps shared details. They said the enemy stopped at the cut-off road. Then Ukrainian units hit the column with targeted strikes. This smart timing caused maximum damage with little risk to Ukrainians.
Important Losses That Made an Impact

The attack destroyed gear worth $3 million to $6 million. That includes $300,000 to $600,000 just for the bikes and quads. Each one costs $10,000 to $20,000. Light vehicles burn fast when drones hit them. This hurts Russia’s supply chains even more. Ukrainian forces mixed drones for spotting, striking, and cleanup perfectly.
Pokrovsk stays under Ukrainian control. It links key rail and road networks for 100,000 to 150,000 civilians and troops. Russia wants it to push toward Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said defenses around Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad are strong. They stopped northern attacks and even shot down a Russian flag planted too soon.
Two days later, on December 12, Russian state TV host Vladimir Solovyov claimed full control of Pokrovsk. Ukrainian videos of the wreckage proved him wrong right away. Russia’s Pokrovsk push is slowing down. Elite losses and failed attacks give Ukraine time to build up defenses. This protects supply routes and people. Holding this key spot matters a lot for both sides’ next moves.
